There is an up to 8 game optional golf programme attached to this cruise – details (including additional cost) is provided on page 7 of this itinerary. Our itinerary includes golf games at both Cape Kidnappers and Royal Wellington – the cost of the highly inclusive day at both golf courses is less than the international green fee rates applicable at both golf courses. The option exists to play any selection of the offered golf games and only pay for what is selected. A credit is available for green fees on a course you have reciprocal playing rights or if you wish to walk and not utilise a motorise cart.

A potential AUD 650 per room discount is available. You should also receive an additional USD 200 pp on board credit.

The advertised pricing is Port to Port which comes without any special inclusions (ie no air or limousine transfers or pre cruise night in Auckland). However, Port to Port fares are inclusive of all standard inclusions on the ship – ie meals, drinks, shore excursions and gratuities.

While Silversea maintains this promotion, singles can book either a non-balcony or balcony suite for a 50% single supplement.

We are your tour hosts. We have golfed extensively throughout the world, and have organised and hosted many successful golf cruises (and golf tours), including many times sailing around New Zealand.  Unlike many other golf tour operators, we deal directly with the relevant service providers. This enables us to provide very competitively priced golf at the best available courses and with no reduction in quality.

In addition to our golf cruises, Trendsetter Travel & Cruise Centre operates a retail travel agency on Sydney’s lower North Shore. We can book all of your travel requirements, and as members of the Virtuoso network can offer an excellent choice of hotels – with attractive free benefits – to perfectly complement your luxury golf cruise.

We invite you to join us for yet another exciting luxury golf cruise!

Itinerary

Day 1 – Thursday 4 January 2024 – Auckland – Cruise Departure – late evening

Make your own way to the down town cruise terminal with boarding possible from 2 pm (although your room will not be available until later than afternoon) and have a relaxing lunch on board.

For guests who arrive in Auckland on 3 January 2024, we will make a group booking at a leading 4 ½ to 5 star down town property and provide the option to stay at this hotel.

Day 2 – Friday 5 January 2024 – at sea

A relaxing day at sea allows you to experience the many on-board facilities which Silver Muse offers.

We will schedule a group welcome lunch (optional of course) at 12.15 pm (starting with pre lunch drinks) in the Atlantide Restaurant on Deck 4.

Day 3 – Saturday 6 January 2024 – Gisborne (Golf – Game 1) – in port 8.00 am to 6 pm

Golf Game 1 : Silver Muse will anchor a short distance from the wharf at Gisborne.  A short drive through Gisborne will have us at Poverty Bay Golf Links, the 5th oldest golf course in New Zealand and the 2nd oldest in the North Island.   The course has held multiple New Zealand amateur events and is one of the best of New Zealand’s traditional provincial golf courses.

Day 4 – Sunday 7 January 2024 – Napier (Golf – Game 2) – in port 8 am to 6 pm

We have a full port day in the historic and attractive port town of Napier. Many of the buildings have been constructed in art deco style after the rebuilding of the town (now a city) in the 1930s following a devastating earthquake in 1931 which destroyed most of the town.

Golf Game 2: We offer a not to be missed bucket list experience today at exceptional pricing. We will play Cape Kidnappers and have a full day at the Cape Kidnappers Resort. Your package for the day will include coach transfers, 60 minutes pre golf to test out the practice facilities and clubrooms, green fees including motorised cart, drinks post golf in the rustic clubrooms and prizes. We are pleased to offer this package for AUD 550 pp which is less than the quoted international green fee price for Australians of $700 pp.

day 5

Day 5 – Monday 8 January 2024 – Wellington (Golf – Game 3) – in port 9 am to 6 pm

Golf Game 3: After entering the harbour early morning, we berth at the magnificent port city of Wellington, the capital of New Zealand.  We transfer 30 minutes north to the Hutt Valley and play the prestigious and redesigned (2013) Royal Wellington Golf Club.  Now ranked comfortably within the top 10 New Zealand golf clubs, it is, with Wairakei, undoubtedly one of the finest two park land layouts in New Zealand.  Since the club was founded in 1895, it has been the venue for 7 New Zealand Open championships.

We are pleased to be able to offer a highly inclusive day at Royal Wellington for AUD 250 pp which is less than the green fee rate for international visitors of $275 pp. Another bucket list experience of exceptional value and not to be missed.

Day 6 – Tuesday 9 January 2024 – Lyttleton (Golf – Game 4) - in port 8.00 am – 6.00 pm

Golf Game 4: We berth at the port of Lyttleton and take a scenic drive via the Lyttleton tunnel to picturesque Christchurch and on to our golf game. We will play the challenging Woodward Course at Harewood Golf Club with a shot gun start scheduled.  The course was totally rebuilt in 2012 following the sale of the 2nd golf course to Christchurch Airport to enable an expanded runway.  The Woodward Course is now one of the best golf layouts in Christchurch.

After returning to Lyttleton, there should be time to wander around the historic port town of Lyttleton prior to boarding Silver Muse for dinner and departure.

Day 7 – Wednesday 10 January 2024 – Dunedin (Golf – Game 5) – in port 8am – 6pm

Golf Game 5: Today we play the prestigious Otago Golf Club, located 30 minutes from Dunedin’s Port Chalmers.  Apart from being New Zealand’s oldest golf club, it has hosted the NZ Golf Open no fewer than 7 times.  We invite you to try and replicate Arnold Palmer’s efforts – in one Open event in the 1960s Arnie drove the green of this famous hole, the par 4 Glenn Hole (photo).

Days 8/9 – Thursday 11/Friday 12 January 2024 – Sailing Tasman Sea

Day 10 – Saturday 13 January 2024 - Hobart (Game 6) – Arrive 1pm (over-night)

Golf Game 6: Late morning, we sail up the scenic Derwent River and into Hobart some two weeks following the finish of the famous Sydney to Hobart yacht race.  After berthing, we will regain our land legs and travel to play Tasmania Golf Club, one of the top 2 golf courses in Hobart.  Traditionally ranked in the top 100 golf courses in Australia, it now competes for the 5th best ranked golf course in Tasmania (after the 2 King Island and 2 Barbougle golf courses).

Day 11 – Sunday 14 January 2024 – Hobart (Game 7) – Depart 11pm

For the golfers, following breakfast, there will be time to independently explore Hobart prior to a late morning coach transfer to golf.

Golf – Game 7: We transfer mid-morning to the Royal Hobart Golf Club, the premiere private golf club in Tasmania.  Founded 100 years ago, it received its royal charter in 1925 and has hosted numerous professional and national amateur tournaments, including the 1971 Australian Open won by Jack Nicklaus.

Day 12 – Monday 15 January 2024 – Port Arthur – in Port 8 am to 2 pm

Silver Muse anchors off Port Arthur and we should have up to 5 hours to independently explore the historic penal colony or take one of the Silversea offered shore excursions.

Day 13 – Tuesday 16 January 2024 – Burnie (Game 8) – in port 8 am to 6 pm

Burnie is an active commercial port supporting Tasmania’s export logging industry.  For the non-golfers, Silversea offers a selection of shore excursions including a visit to Cradle Mountain (surcharge applies).  And you never know who you might meet – on our previous golf cruise, several of our tour party met local member Senator Jacqui Lambie in Burnie’s main street.

Golf – Game 8:  Today we coach 40 minutes west of Burnie to play the Devonport Golf Club, the best golf course in north east Tasmania.   The course regularly hosts the Tasmanian Senior Open.

Day 14 – Wednesday 17 January 2024 – Sea Day

A relaxing day at sea allows you to experience the many on-board facilities which Silver Muse offers.  We expect to schedule a group lunch (entirely optional) in the main restaurant which on past cruises has been a lot of fun.

Day 15 – Thursday 18 January 2024 – Sydney – in port 7 am

After a relaxing overnight cruise, we will berth early morning in Sydney. You will have a last chance for a leisurely breakfast, before bidding a final farewell to new friends and old.

Cost of Golf Games ( with and without golf cart)

The golf package price does NOT include golf club hire.  It includes green fees, motorised cart hire (subject to availability – all courses booked should have sufficient motorised carts), coach transfers, prize money each game and drinks post golf.  Golf will be played on the courses as specified but Trendsetter cannot be held responsible for any cancellation/s necessitated by a change to Silversea’s itinerary due to weather or any other event, or late amendment by the golf course or if Trendsetter considers it in the best interests of the tour party as a whole to make a change in the specified golf course (eg due to course maintenance issues or lack of motorised carts or a better golf course having been found).  In the event of a cancellation and Trendsetter cannot organise an alternative golf course, Trendsetter will pass through any refund available.  For those walking and not using a golf cart, a slight discount to the golf programme is offered.  Where multiple tee starts are obtained, motorised cart use is compulsory.  Golf costs are subject to an increase should green fee rates be increased by a particular golf club as daily golf costs are priced at approximate cost to Trendsetter Travel.
